Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, the United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign, Economic and Trade Affairs, during the official inauguration of the Tbilisi Dry Port - an infrastructure project aimed at boosting Georgia’s role as a regional trade hub, the Government of Georgia press office said.
The meeting, held at the Government Administration, focused on the expanding bilateral cooperation between Georgia and the UAE, particularly in trade, logistics, and investment. Both officials highlighted the growing momentum in economic relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strategic partnership.
Special attention was given to the Tbilisi Dry Port’s role in enhancing trade connectivity along the Middle Corridor - the emerging transit route linking China and the Far East with Europe via Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Georgian officials see the project as a major step toward transforming the country into a regional logistics centre.
In addition to the dry port development, the two sides welcomed a major investment deal signed with UAE-based developers Emaar Properties and Eagle Hills. The $6 billion USD agreement represents one of the largest foreign investments in Georgia’s history and is expected to deliver projects in urban development and infrastructure, the press office added.
Minister Al Sayegh thanked the Georgian Government for its continued support to international investors, emphasizing the UAE’s long-term commitment to fostering peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
