Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said the Government had taken concrete steps to address corruption following a “clear” and “specific” statement made by the ruling party founder Bidzina Ivanishvili in December 2023.

Responding to a question regarding the case of former State Security Service head Grigol Liluashvili, Kobakhidze stressed that investigations require time but highlighted the Government’s focus on preventing corruption both now and in the future.

The Prime Minister noted the Government’s priority was to ensure that corruption was not tolerated going forward.

“Right now, we are focused on preventing corruption today and tomorrow. That is our main task. I urge everyone: if you discover anything today or tomorrow, raise your voice immediately, contact us and we will respond. We are responsible for answering every question that arises today and tomorrow,” Kobakhidze added.
