Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has congratulated Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II on his birthday.

In a message shared on social media, Kobakhidze said that for nearly half a century, during a pivotal period in Georgia’s modern history, the Patriarch’s spiritual leadership has been a key force filling society with calm, unity and faith in the future.

“For almost half a century, at this decisive stage of Georgia’s recent history, his spiritual guidance has been the main force that has inspired society with peace, unity and confidence in the future,” the Prime Minister wrote.

Kobakhidze noted that it is a great honour for the country that, on the path toward independence and the strengthening of statehood, Georgia has relied on the wisdom and blessings of His Holiness.

“The Patriarch’s devoted service, loyalty to supreme values and love for one’s fellow human beings are an exemplary model for each of us,” he added.

Expressing deep respect and gratitude for the Patriarch’s lifelong service, the Prime Minister wished Ilia II good health, strength, and longevity for the benefit of the country and the Georgian people.
