Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has called on European officials to back public statements with concrete actions when it comes to supporting Georgia’s national interests.

Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze said all actors should remain consistent in defending Georgia’s interests and avoid steps that could create additional risks for the country.

“When there is talk about protecting our national interests, this must be followed by concrete actions,” the Prime Minister said.

Kobakhidze argued that statements alone were insufficient and said European institutions should demonstrate through their actions that they stand with the Georgian people.

The Prime Minister also claimed that European bureaucracy had, in recent years, acted against Georgia’s national interests, accusing some European actors of taking positions contrary to those of the Georgian public.
