Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze claimed that Pia Kauma, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, had experienced a “liberal fascism attack” that led to her decision to postpone a planned visit to Georgia.
Kauma postponed her planned visit to Georgia amid protests against the Georgian government’s decision to delay the country’s European Union integration until 2028. The move triggered widespread opposition both within Georgia and internationally, leading to calls from various groups and governments for Kauma to reconsider her trip.
Kobakhidze, speaking to journalists, suggested that Kauma’s decision was influenced by what he described as a “liberal fascism attack.”
According to Kobakhidze, Kauma witnessed firsthand the impact of this ideology during her planned visit to Georgia.
“We had planned to have a conversation with Kauma about how liberal fascism works, for example, in Georgia, and in fact, she herself felt the effect of liberal fascism best,” Kobakhidze claimed. He characterized “liberal fascism” as a coordinated, international movement that undermines traditional values and poses a serious challenge to countries like Georgia.
“This is not a Georgian phenomenon; this is an internationally coordinated phenomenon. Liberal fascism is something that we all have to fight against,” Kobakhidze claimed.
