Georgia's economy exceeded ₾100 billion ($37.81bln) for the first time in history in 2025, reaching ₾104.6 billion, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on Friday while presenting the Government's annual report to Parliament.
"Traditionally, I will begin with the economy. First of all, I want to present the figures. Numbers are what our opponents dislike the most because they speak for themselves and require no special analysis," Kobakhidze said.
Drawing a comparison with football, the Prime Minister said that while performance can be criticised in many ways, "if the scoreboard shows 7:1, that criticism carries little weight."
"I can tell you what score last year ended with for our country - not for the Government subjectively, but for Georgia itself, in terms of its progress and development during the reporting period," he said.
Kobakhidze noted that Georgia's economy expanded by 7.5 per cent in 2025, adding that the $3.9 billion increase over the year was "an impressive result."
"For the first time in history, Georgia's economy surpassed ₾100 billion and reached ₾104.6 billion," he said.
The Prime Minister recalled that when the Georgian Dream came to power in 2012, Georgia's economy was worth less than ₾28 billion ($10.59bln), while in 2020 it stood at less than ₾50 billion ($18.91bln).
"This means that over the past five years, our economy has doubled in lari terms. In US dollar terms, it has grown even more, thanks to the stabilisation and strengthening of the lari," Kobakhidze said.
According to him, Georgia's economy increased from $16 billion in 2020 to $38.1 billion in 2025.
Kobakhidze also said the average annual economic growth over the past five years stood at 9.3 per cent.
He added that the economy grew by 8.2 percent in January-April 2026, indicating that the high growth rate has continued this year.
"Maintaining a high pace of economic growth remains one of our top priorities," the Prime Minister said.
