Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday claimed Tbilisi welcomed and had supported the recent trilateral agreement signed in Washington between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States, describing it as a significant development for peace and economic prosperity in the South Caucasus.

Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze highlighted Georgia’s role in backing the deal, which aims to open new transport corridors in the region. He expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for his leadership in facilitating the agreement.

"This is fundamentally important. Naturally, we welcome the signing of this agreement. We did everything we could, using all the resources at our disposal, to support the conclusion of such an agreement”, Kobakhidze said.

The official further stressed the importance of reinforcing national independence and freedom for all involved countries, saying the deal would promote stability and growth in the wider Transcaucasian region.

“Georgia continues to hold a central position in the region. Over the past 30 years, despite conflicts between our neighbours, we have worked to uphold peace, a role valued by both Azerbaijan and Armenia. We will continue to work together to consolidate peace and prosperity in our region,” Kobakhidze said.
