PM Kobakhidze congratulates veterans on Victory Day, honours Georgians who fought against fascism

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has congratulated citizens on 9 May, marking Victory Day over fascism, and paid special tribute to war veterans.
Speaking to journalists at the Veterans Park of Culture and Recreation in the capital city of Tbilisi, where he honoured those who died during the Second World War on the 81st anniversary of the victory over fascism, Kobakhidze highlighted the contribution and sacrifice of Georgian soldiers.
“I congratulate everyone on 9 May, Victory Day over fascism. I especially congratulate our veterans,” the PM said.
Kobakhidze noted around 300,000 Georgians lost their lives in the fight against fascism, while hundreds of thousands fought on the front line.
“It is our duty to honour the memory of every hero, every person who embodied dedication and sacrifice for the homeland,” he stated.
The PM also thanked veterans and those he described as heroes for their contribution and service.
