Georgian PM, Turkish President discuss strategic partnership, regional cooperation

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to discuss the strategic partnership between the two countries, ongoing cooperation across various sectors and recent developments in the wider region.
The Georgian Government Administration said the meeting focused on the “strong and dynamic” partnership between the two countries, with particular emphasis on the positive trajectory of trade and economic relations. The leaders also reviewed the importance of joint regional infrastructure projects that continue to enhance connectivity and strengthen energy security in the wider region.
Among the projects highlighted were the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline, the Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor. The sides underlined the strategic significance of these initiatives for regional integration as well as for enhancing Europe’s energy resilience.
The two leaders also discussed the growing potential of the Middle Corridor and agreed on the importance of continued cooperation to further develop this strategic route linking Europe and Asia.
During the meeting, Kobakhidze expressed condolences to Erdoğan over the tragic school shooting that took place in Turkey on April 15.
