PM Kobakhidze: ”Tougher penalties for attacks on police have no alternative”

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized the need for stricter laws against attacks on law enforcement, stating that weakening police forces directly threatens the strength of the state.

Speaking to Georgian journalists in Uzbekistan, Kobakhidze stressed that harsher sanctions for crimes against police are essential. He accused certain groups of attempting to undermine the state by targeting law enforcement and vowed that Georgia would not tolerate such actions.

”Certain forces in Georgia, ill-wishers, were trying to undermine the strength of the state primarily by attacking law enforcement agencies. Even today, they openly support individuals who have distinguished themselves by attacking police officers. Why? Everyone knows that if you attack law enforcement agencies and get away with it, you can weaken the strength of the state. We must not allow this,” he said.
