Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday the government had publicly stated that “appropriate steps” would be taken “where there is recognition and repentance”, in relation to demonstrators arrested during anti-government protests in 2024.

Speaking at a briefing at the government administration, Kobakhidze said the position had also been shared repeatedly with representatives of the Georgian Patriarchate.

He described the government’s stance as “firm and clear”.

“This is necessary for crime prevention, this is necessary for the state,” the prime minister said.
