Georgian Prime Minister meets IMF mission head

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Alejandro Hajdenberg, head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission; IMF Executive Director Jeroen Kremers; and IMF’s permanent representative in Georgia, Andrew Jewell.
According to the government administration, the meeting focused on Georgia’s economic growth, macroeconomic stability, and the IMF’s crucial role in supporting structural reforms. The Prime Minister emphasized the ongoing reforms to improve the management of state-owned enterprises—a key IMF recommendation aimed at enhancing their effectiveness.
Discussions also covered Georgia’s progress in diversifying its markets, improving regional trade links, developing capital markets, and strengthening energy security.
Prime Minister Kobakhidze highlighted the importance of the close cooperation with the IMF and noted that the Fund’s economic forecasts align with the Georgian government’s own projections.
The IMF officials, who are in Georgia as part of the Fund’s Article IV consultation mission, expressed their readiness to continue close collaboration with the Georgian government.
