Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has met the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission chief Alejandro Hajdenberg to discuss economic developments and ongoing cooperation.
The meeting focused on close collaboration between Georgia and the IMF, including support for fiscal and structural reforms, the government press office said on Wednesday.
Discussions also covered the country’s economic growth, with officials noting that Georgia’s average annual growth rate has reached 9.3% over the past five years, with the trend continuing this year.
Kobakhidze said the government’s economic policy was focused on maintaining macroeconomic stability, advancing structural reforms, and implementing major infrastructure projects, including the Black Sea submarine cable and the Anaklia deep-sea port.
The parties also discussed reforms of state-owned enterprises, with savings expected to be reinvested into sector development.
The meeting was attended by IMF Resident Representative in Georgia Andrew Jewell, Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, and Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.
