Georgia, Azerbaijan remain ‘strong allies’, PM Kobakhidze after meeting with Ali Asadov

Georgia and Azerbaijan remain strong allies and continue to cooperate in support of regional peace and stability, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in a statement on X following his meeting with Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov in Ashgabat on Thursday.

Kobakhidze stressed that Georgia was committed to deepening the idea of strategic partnership with Azerbaijan.

“On the sidelines of the international forum underway in Ashgabat, I met with Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov.

Georgia and Azerbaijan remain strong allies and continue to work together in support of regional peace and stability. We are dedicated to advancing our strategic partnership”, Kobakhidze wrote.

According to the Georgian Government Administration, the meeting focused on the existing strategic partnership between the two countries and the positive dynamics of cooperation across various sectors.

The parties highlighted growing trade and economic cooperation, as well as regional projects jointly implemented by Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Discussions also covered the importance of developing the Middle Corridor and prospects for deeper partnership in this direction, along with strengthened regional cooperation in the field of energy security.

The Prime Minister reiterated Georgia’s readiness to support long-term peace and stability in the region through dialogue.

The meeting between the Georgian and Azerbaijani prime ministers took place in Turkmenistan on the margins of the international forum.
