Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday said the country currently leads Europe in terms of economic growth, “significantly outpacing” many other countries across the continent.

“Georgia ranks first on the European continent and in the wider region in terms of economic growth. This is, of course, the result of our correct policies, peace, and sound economic management,” Kobakhidze said.

The Prime Minister added Georgia had widened the economic gap with Moldova by more than $11 billion over the past four years. He argued that this demonstrated the country’s stability and effective governance.

“This all shows that Georgia has a low level of corruption, effective policies, and well-functioning state institutions - unlike Moldova and several other candidate countries. That is the real picture. As for the rest, we have heard many political speculations on various topics, including the economy, but the truth is reflected in concrete figures and numbers,” Kobakhidze added.
