Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday warned that his government would not tolerate any attempts to topple the state, “whether peaceful or violent.”
His comments came after opposition figures Paata Burculadze and Levan Khabeishvili spoke publicly about a “peaceful overthrow” of the government in early October.
“Their names say it all about how seriously we can take their statements. But again, this shows the face of the radical opposition,” Kobakhidze told journalists. “For years, they have continuously talked about overthrow and revolution. Even if it doesn’t succeed, it reveals their mindset and attitude. This is how foreign agents act.”
The PM further added “the state stands firm and will not allow anyone to attempt either a peaceful or non-peaceful overthrow. As we promised the public over all these years, we will uphold this commitment.”
