Georgia’s PM congratulates newly appointed ambassadors to France, Egypt

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has met with Georgia’s newly appointed ambassadors to France and Egypt, as well as the country’s permanent representative to UNESCO, the government announced on Thursday.

Irakli Kurashvili, appointed as Georgia’s ambassador to France and permanent representative to UNESCO, brings 30 years of diplomatic experience. He has held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Georgia’s diplomatic missions abroad, the Government press office said.
Kurashvili served as Georgia’s ambassador to Latvia from 2023 to 2025, to Argentina between 2017 and 2022, and to Switzerland from 2012 to 2017. Between 2022 and 2023, he led the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Directorate for European Integration. He holds the diplomatic rank of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador.
Nikoloz Abkhazava, appointed as ambassador to Egypt, has also held multiple roles within the Foreign Ministry. He was Georgia’s ambassador to South Korea from 2012 to 2017, and to Malaysia between 2017 and 2022. Abkhazava likewise holds the diplomatic rank of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador.
