Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said further weakening of what he described as the “radical opposition” would strengthen the Georgian state and better protect national interests.

Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze commented on internal disagreements within opposition groups, describing them as a sign of political weakness.

“The weaker the radical opposition is, the stronger the Georgian state becomes,” the Prime Minister said.

Kobakhidze added that continued divisions within the opposition were “desirable,” arguing that this would directly contribute to strengthening Georgia’s state interests.
