Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze has stated that external blackmail, pressure, and threats against the country are ineffective and that the opposition is being forced to take steps that ultimately lead to the universal recognition of the election’s legitimacy.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze criticized the opposition, claiming it is in a state of political bankruptcy. “The opposition is practically bankrupt. The only thing keeping them alive is their external patrons, but even that is a weak weapon,” he said.
Kobakhidze highlighted that the opposition has gradually been compelled to accept the election results. “Initially, the Lelo party recognized the legitimacy of the elections by taking advantage of their quota in the electoral administration. Now, the only opposition party that refused funding was Gvaramia’s party, while all others have acknowledged the election results,” he stated.
He emphasized that this process demonstrates the ineffectiveness of external pressure on Georgia. “The blackmail, pressure, and threats directed against Georgia do not work. The opposition is left with no choice but to take steps that ultimately lead to the universal recognition of the election’s legitimacy,” Kobakhidze concluded.
