Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the unveiling of a monument to the Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi in Tbilisi as part of Mirziyoyev's state visit to Georgia.
The monument was unveiled in Alisher Navoi Park in the Varketili district of the capital.
Addressing the ceremony, Georgian Education, Science and Youth Minister Givi Mikanadze and Uzbek Culture Minister Ozodbek Nazarbekov said the monument symbolised the long-standing friendship and partnership between Georgia and Uzbekistan.
The event was also attended by members of the Georgian and Uzbek governments, Tbilisi Deputy Mayor Giorgi Tkemaladze, and Tbilisi City Council Chair Zurab Abashidze.
Mirziyoyev later concluded his state visit and departed from Tbilisi International Airport, where he was seen off by Kobakhidze and members of the Georgian cabinet.
During the visit, Mirziyoyev held both one-to-one and expanded-format talks with the Georgian prime minister.
The two leaders also signed a joint declaration establishing a strategic partnership between Georgia and Uzbekistan, elevating bilateral relations to a new level.
