The trends currently observed in the European Union are alarming, particularly in relation to economic difficulties and the loss of European identity, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on Saturday in response to a journalist’s question about the EU’s move to simplify gender reassignment procedures.

Kobakhidze added this was a “deliberate and externally imposed process” that threatened Europe’s core values.

“Statistics speak for themselves - they are alarming in many ways. We are talking about a catastrophic development, such as cases of minors changing their gender. The Georgian public can clearly see what has happened to Europe and the EU. We hope these trends will be stopped; otherwise, Europe faces even greater dangers,” the Prime Minister stated.

“It is indeed troubling what we are witnessing in Europe. As for how we will respond to these trends, the Government will make that decision. At this stage, it would be difficult for me to make any specific comments,” Kobakhidze added.
