Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that an investigation into the incident involving former Adjara leader Tornike Rizhvadze was launched immediately, emphasizing the importance of uncovering every detail connected to the case.

"Naturally, the rest will be determined by the investigation. I’ve personally taken interest in all aspects of the case, but most importantly, the investigation must determine what the cause was. As you know, a criminal case has been initiated under a specific article, and all aspects must be thoroughly examined—every detail matters, including the contents of the letter and the surrounding circumstances. Given the nature of the case, it will receive special attention, not only from myself but also from law enforcement agencies,” Kobakhidze told reporters at the First University Clinic, where Rizhvadze is currently hospitalized.

When asked by journalists, "Who was accusing Tornike Rizhvadze of corruption and protecting drug dealers?" the Prime Minister responded:

"I don’t know exactly, but there were specific TV channels involved in that narrative, right? Life in politics is extremely stressful, even when one no longer holds office. You can imagine the level of stress caused by lies, insults, and slander. I can name specific TV channels that were doing this—such as TV Pirveli and Formula. The environment for politicians is generally toxic. Spreading lies and hate speech is a national challenge for Georgia, and we’ve spoken about it many times. No one should be surprised when someone suffers under the weight of slander and personal attacks. This is a responsibility shared by all those who are fueling hatred in our society."

Kobakhidze added that he will personally monitor the investigation process:

"Not only me—first and foremost, law enforcement agencies are actively investigating this issue. But I will also be closely following the progress."

Tornike Rizhvadze remains in the First University Clinic in stable condition after an apparent suicide attempt.
