Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has praised the country’s security and law enforcement agencies, including the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, for their role in “preventing crime and safeguarding national security.”

“All security structures were mobilized to prevent any type of crime. I would like to extend special thanks to the State Security Service, as they conducted an important operation for crime prevention, which was successfully carried out,” Kobakhidze told journalists.

Commenting on the recent alleged coup attempt on October 4, Kobakhidze said that former President Salome Zourabishvili had been prepared for entry into the Presidential Palace, but the attempt ultimately failed.

“It is not of interest to us what they say now - they can justify themselves as much as they like. The main point is that the coup attempt failed. Over the past four years, there have been five attempted revolutions, and all five failed. Naturally, Salome Zourabishvili is disappointed and now tries to justify herself,” he added.
