Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda in Dushanbe, where both leaders described the visit as a historic milestone and pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
The two sides stressed the significance of Kobakhidze's official visit - the first ever by a Georgian prime minister to Tajikistan - and expressed confidence that it would elevate relations to a new level and provide fresh momentum for cooperation.
The leaders also highlighted the importance of enhancing coordination within international organizations and multilateral frameworks.
Following a one-on-one meeting, talks continued in an expanded format involving members of both governments.
Rasulzoda described the visit as a "historic moment" for the two countries and reaffirmed Tajikistan's readiness to deepen its friendly relations with Georgia.
"This is a historic moment for our countries. The head of the Georgian government is visiting Tajikistan for the first time, and I am confident that a new and important chapter will be written in the history of our relations," Rasulzoda said.
Kobakhidze thanked his counterpart for hosting the Georgian delegation and stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
"This is a historic moment. The first high-level official visit from Georgia to Tajikistan is taking place. Our nations are closely connected by historical traditions and friendship, and it is our responsibility to do everything possible to strengthen our partnership and cooperation," Kobakhidze said.
The Georgian prime minister also thanked Tajikistan for its support of Georgia's national interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Following the meeting, the two countries signed a number of cooperation agreements in various fields. The signing ceremony was attended by both prime ministers.
