Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday said Georgia and Tajikistan had signed 11 agreements aimed at expanding cooperation across multiple sectors during his official visit to the Central Asian country.
Speaking to journalists in Tajikistan, Kobakhidze noted it was the first high-level visit from Georgia to Tajikistan in the history of bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister said only three agreements had previously been signed between the two countries, while the latest visit resulted in the signing of 11 new documents covering various areas of cooperation.
Kobakhidze noted Georgia was interested in maintaining “strong political ties” with Tajikistan and saw potential for expanding economic and trade relations, as well as cooperation in education and culture.
He added that the agreements signed during the visit were designed to support deeper collaboration in those areas.
The Prime Minister also said he held meetings with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda and parliamentary officials, and thanked the Tajik leadership for its hospitality.
