Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said Georgia and Tajikistan signed a joint communiqué and several bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation during his official visit to Dushanbe, describing the trip as a “historic” in relations between the two countries.
Speaking at a joint briefing with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Kobakhidze said the documents signed during the visit would help deepen bilateral ties and expressed confidence that the visit would elevate Georgia-Tajikistan relations to a new level.
The Prime Minister noted that the two sides discussed a broad range of issues, including bilateral cooperation and coordination within international organisations. He also thanked Tajikistan for its support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.
Kobakhidze described the visit as historic, noting that it was the first visit by a Georgian leader to Tajikistan at the highest political level despite the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries.
According to the Prime Minister, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue expanding cooperation and strengthening political and economic ties in the future.
