Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, has said the government remained open to political dialogue with the European Union, while expressing confidence in continued electoral success for the ruling party.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze said his government was ready to engage with European partners if there was willingness on the other side. “As soon as we see readiness from European bureaucracy to renew dialogue with the Georgian authorities, we will show full openness,” he said, adding that the government had consistently relied on public support.
At the same time, the prime minister suggested that current engagement from EU institutions was limited, describing their approach as reluctant to engage in discussion. He said Georgia would continue talks with any actors open to dialogue.
Kobakhidze also addressed domestic politics, predicting that the ruling Georgian Dream party would secure a decisive victory in the next parliamentary elections, expected in two years. He dismissed opposition alliances, saying similar groupings in the past had failed to challenge the governing party electorally.
Responding to criticism of previous elections, the prime minister rejected allegations of irregularities, stating that results reflected the will of voters. He pointed to the use of electronic voting systems as evidence that manipulation was not possible, although critics and opposition groups have continued to question aspects of the electoral process.
