Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday claimed both the 2008 Russo-Georgian War and the ongoing war in Ukraine were preventable, attributing their occurrence to “deliberate actions” by “certain forces”.

“We have been saying for a long time that the war in Ukraine could have been avoided. Unfortunately, it happened, and it has had catastrophic consequences for our friendly country, Ukraine. Of course, any war can be avoided,” Kobakhidze remarked.

He went on to suggest that “specific forces,” which he referred to as the “so-called Deep State” and the “global war party,” played a role in ensuring that these conflicts materialized.

“The 2008 war could have been easily avoided, and the war in Ukraine could have been avoided. However, these forces did everything to ensure that war broke out in Ukraine,” he said.
