Prime Minister and head of the ruling Georgian Dream election campaign, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced plans for a new Tbilisi International Airport, which will have the capacity to serve 18 million passengers annually. Speaking during the presentation of the party’s election program on Monday, Kobakhidze emphasized the critical importance of this megaproject for Georgia’s infrastructure and future growth.

“The flow of passengers will continue to increase year by year, and our infrastructure must meet this demand. The new Tbilisi International Airport is designed to accommodate 18 million passengers, marking a major step forward for our country,” Kobakhidze stated.
He also highlighted the significance of Georgia’s two major airports, Tbilisi and Kutaisi, noting that Kutaisi’s airport currently handles 1.7 million passengers annually. Following its planned expansion, the terminal will be able to serve up to 5 million passengers.

Kobakhidze described the Tbilisi project, including the construction of Vaziani Airport, as essential for the nation’s development.

“This megaproject is of key importance for our country’s future, ensuring that Georgia’s infrastructure is prepared for growing passenger numbers,” the PM concluded.
