Kobakhidze went on to characterise the work of firefighters as “equal to heroism”.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has paid tribute to the country’s firefighters, praising their dedication and professionalism on the occasion of their professional day.

In a public statement issued on Thursday, Kobakhidze described firefighting as one of the “most honourable and, at the same time, most difficult” roles in public service. He commended the country’s emergency responders for their courage and selflessness.

“Dear firefighters, I heartily congratulate you on your professional day,” the Prime Minister said. “You have one of the most honourable and, at the same time, the most difficult missions in our public life, which, along with professionalism, requires great dedication.”

Kobakhidze went on to characterise the work of firefighters as “equal to heroism”, acknowledging the risks they take to protect the lives and safety of Georgian citizens.

“We thank you for your faithful service to the country and society,” he added, concluding with wishes for “health, strength and peaceful service”.
