Georgia’s Government will continue to prioritise support for viticulture and winemaking, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on Monday, stressing that this year would be no exception.

He noted the state-owned Harvest Management Company would purchase grapes in Kakheti at set prices: ₾1.50 per kilogram for Saperavi, ₾1.20 for Rkatsiteli and other winemaking varieties, and ₾1 for damaged or substandard grapes.

“The approach applied in previous years will continue, which is very important for supporting viticulture and winemaking in our country. This year’s grape harvest is projected to reach 200,000–250,000 tons. To ensure the timely collection and processing of the harvest, the vintage coordination headquarters is operating around the clock”, Kobakhidze said.
