Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, on Tuesday said that the development of the country’s water sector was directly linked to economic progress.

Speaking at the International Water Future Forum, the prime minister said that a well-functioning water system would contribute to increased tourism, stronger industry and agriculture, a healthier business environment, and ultimately greater prosperity for citizens.

He said the forum provided a platform for shaping a shared vision for the future, bringing together professionals, international partners and decision-makers around what he described as a common idea - that effective management of water resources is one of the essential foundations of Georgia’s strength and development.

PM Kobakhidze also thanked the company Aqualia for its partnership, as well as the event organiser, Georgian Water and Powers, and all forum participants.

He also highlighted the involvement of international financial institutions and foreign partners, saying their participation was a key guarantee of success in the process.
