Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday emphasised the Government’s firm stance on combating corruption, stressing that both current and past offences must be addressed to strengthen prevention.
“We must do everything possible to eliminate corruption. That means being effective and strict in every direction. This is the only unconditional path toward eradicating corruption in our country,” Kobakhidze told journalists.
The Prime Minister said work was actively underway across all sectors, with a particular focus on improving the cost-effectiveness of ongoing projects and ensuring efficiency in management systems.
“At the same time, we are also looking into the past. If there were corruption-related offences, they must be addressed. First of all, to create a preventive effect - if there are no examples, the temptation remains for someone to cross the line. This is extremely damaging for our country, as corruption is always harmful to the state,” Kobakhidze noted.
