Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has pledged continued government support for Georgia’s tourism and construction sectors, describing them as “key driving forces” of the national economy.
Speaking at a ceremony to mark the start of construction on ORBI Group’s large-scale hotel complex on Wednesday, ORBI Continental, Kobakhidze said the project would become a new landmark for Batumi.
The $300 million investment includes the construction of two skyscrapers and is expected to create 1,500 jobs during the building phase and around 2,000 permanent jobs once operational.
“This is a very impressive and modern project that reflects the private sector’s trust in the state and in Batumi’s development,” Kobakhidze said, adding that it would enrich the coastline city’s skyline and boost its growth.
He thanked ORBI Group for its contribution to the country’s development and expressed confidence the company would continue to play a major role in the future.
Kobakhidze further stressed that the government would keep supporting ambitious private initiatives that strengthen the sectors and contribute to Georgia’s broader economic growth.
