Georgia ready to support transit of Turkmen gas, PM Kobakhidze

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has expressed the country’s readiness to facilitate the transportation of Turkmen gas through Georgian territory, underscoring Tbilisi’s ambition to strengthen its role as a key transit hub in the region.
The statement came during Kobakhidze’s meeting with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, where the two leaders discussed political and economic ties, with a particular focus on expanding cooperation in transit and logistics. Officials highlighted the potential to attract additional cargo from Central Asia to Georgian seaports via the Middle Corridor.
Kobakhidze thanked Turkmenistan for its support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and its adherence to the non-recognition policy of the occupied territories. Both sides reaffirmed readiness to deepen cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats, and the Georgian Prime Minister invited Berdimuhamedov for an official visit to Tbilisi.
