Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has thanked President Mikheil Kavelashvili for his “very dignified” speech at the UN, saying it “appropriately represented” Georgia’s key national interests.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, Kobakhidze said that while he refrained from commenting on the previous day’s address by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he acknowledged the “difficult circumstances” facing Ukraine.
“The Ukrainian president leads a country at war. Given the serious situation there - not only related to the conflict but also the economy, democracy, and human rights - it would not be appropriate to engage in polemics with him,” the prime minister said.
He added that President Kavelashvili’s remarks effectively conveyed Georgia’s priorities on the international stage.
