Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said it would be “difficult” for the Government to congratulate Moldova on its recent parliamentary elections as long as the country remains a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Responding to a question about the vote, Kobakhidze noted “while Moldova remains a CIS member, it will be difficult for us to extend congratulations. We will wait to see when Moldova exits the CIS, and after that, we will review the issue of congratulations”.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid Moldova’s parliamentary elections, where pro-European forces led by President Maia Sandu secured a decisive victory.
