Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said Georgia’s upcoming local elections will be held peacefully, dismissing what he described as “non-serious announcements” about possible unrest.

Speaking at the Georgian Business Association’s conference on Friday,  Kobakhidze stressed that the government would ensure political and economic stability, which he called essential for both governance and business.

“We expect the elections to pass calmly, and on 4 October, despite certain unserious forecasts, the day will be peaceful and the country’s stable development will continue,” the prime minister said.

He added that the authorities were committed to providing businesses with a secure and predictable environment in which to operate. “For both government and business, stability is key. We take responsibility for this and will do everything possible to guarantee a stable political and economic environment for your activities,” he noted.

Kobakhidze also underlined the importance of regular dialogue with the private sector, pledging openness to consultation and cooperation.
