Georgian Prime Minister and chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze, has announced the party’s mayoral candidates for municipalities in the Adjara region.

According to Kobakhidze, in three of the six municipalities — Kobuleti, Khelvachauri and Shuakhevi — the current mayors or acting mayors will run for re-election. These are Irakli Tsetskhladze in Kobuleti, Zaza Diasamidze in Khelvachauri, and Omar Takidze in Shuakhevi.

In two municipalities — Keda and Khulo — the ruling party will field current members of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara: Mamuka Turmanidze in Keda and Vakhtang Beridze in Khulo.

In Batumi, the mayoral candidate will be Giorgi Tsintsadze, the current head of the administration of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

Kobakhidze said the Georgian Dream’s goal is to win in all 64 municipalities across the country.

“Our list of candidates is as follows, and we are confident that every one of them will win in their respective municipality. Our goal is clear — to win both the mayoral and city council elections in all 64 municipalities nationwide. Polls confirm that this is an entirely realistic goal. Naturally, our campaign headquarters and the party will be fully mobilised to achieve this result. I wish success to all our mayoral candidates,” he stated.
