Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has officially introduced Mariam Kvrivishvili as the country’s new Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development. The appointment was presented during a meeting with ministry staff, during which Kobakhidze expressed gratitude to outgoing minister Levan Davitashvili for his service and announced that he would remain a key figure in the government as chief economic advisor and Secretary of the Economic Council.

Kobakhidze praised Kvrivishvili’s past achievements in tourism and aviation, highlighting her role in advancing Georgia’s success in those sectors.

“Mariam Kvrivishvili has led Georgia’s tourism development and aviation sector with remarkable success. I am confident she will be just as effective and visionary in her new role as Minister of Economy,” the Prime Minister stated.

Kobakhidze reiterated the government’s continued commitment to strengthening the national economy and emphasized the importance of every ministry team member in driving the country’s progress.

Outgoing Minister Levan Davitashvili also addressed the ministry, expressing his willingness to share his years of public service experience with the economic team and called the transition a “new and significant chapter” for the ministry.

Kvrivishvili, in her first remarks as minister, thanked the Prime Minister for his trust and outlined her vision going forward.

“We have already launched critical and ambitious reforms. Together, we will complete ongoing projects successfully and initiate new ones aligned with the government’s strategic direction and the Prime Minister’s vision. I’m confident that with teamwork and dedication, we will bring even greater success to Georgia,” she said.

Kvrivishvili previously served as Deputy Minister of Economy and played a pivotal role in Georgia’s tourism recovery post-pandemic and the expansion of its aviation sector.
