Georgian PM congratulates Muslim community with Eid al-Adha

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has extended his greetings to Georgia’s Muslim community on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, also known as Qurban Bayram.

According to the government’s press office, Prime Minister Kobakhidze, along with the Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues, visited the Tbilisi Mosque to mark the holiday.

During his address, Kobakhidze emphasized the significant role that Georgia’s Muslim community plays in the country’s development and affirmed the government’s continued support.

“Our country takes great pride in its ethnic and religious diversity. We are proud of the relationships and friendships that have developed among us, and we cherish them deeply. The Government of Georgia is fully committed to addressing the interests of the Muslim community, and this commitment will continue. You make an invaluable contribution to the progress and development of our country, and I want to express my sincere gratitude for that,” Kobakhidze said.

At the mosque, Eid al-Adha greetings were also extended by Zaza Vashakmadze, Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues; Adam Shantadze, Mufti of Western Georgia; Etibar Eminov, Mufti of Eastern Georgia; and Sheikh Faig Nabiyev, spiritual leader of Georgia’s Muslim community. Members of the diplomatic corps attended the prayer ceremony marking Eid al-Adha.
