Georgian PM, President mark Defence Forces anniversary with tribute to fallen servicemembers

Senior Georgian officials have commemorated the 35th anniversary of the country’s Defence Forces by laying wreaths at a memorial dedicated to fallen servicemembers.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
They were joined by Vice Prime Minister and Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani, as well as the Chief of the Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Giorgi Matiashvili.
Participants laid wreaths at the Heroes Memorial and paid tribute to those who died in service of Georgia’s territorial integrity.
