Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze hosted an official dinner for Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Thursday as the Uzbek leader began a two-day state visit to Georgia.
The Government Administration said Kobakhidze highlighted the significance of the first-ever visit to Georgia by an Uzbek president at the highest level, describing it as an important step in advancing bilateral relations.
During the evening, the guests rode the Tbilisi Funicular and viewed the capital's skyline. In honour of Mirziyoyev's visit, the Tbilisi TV Tower was illuminated in the colours of Uzbekistan's national flag.
Mirziyoyev arrived in Georgia earlier today accompanied by a delegation.
On Friday, he is scheduled to hold both one-on-one and expanded-format talks with Kobakhidze, after which the two sides are expected to sign a number of cooperation memorandums across various sectors.
