Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday appointed Vakhtang Gomelauri, the Minister of Internal Affairs who was on Thursday sanctioned by the United States and the United Kingdom, as Vice Prime Minister.

The government administration announced the decision, confirming that the appointment order was signed today.

“The Prime Minister of Georgia has appointed Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri as Vice Prime Minister of Georgia. Irakli Kobakhidze signed the relevant order today,” the statement reads.
