Kupradze criticised the government for delays in reconstruction and for failing to provide safe learning environments

Opposition mayoral candidate Irakli Kupradze has pledged to introduce free meals in every public school across Tbilisi, arguing that many children currently go hungry during lessons.

Speaking in the Nadzaladevi district on Friday, Kupradze said the initiative would support more than 200,000 pupils and address what he described as a “serious problem of child hunger in schools.” He stressed that ensuring children were well-fed was essential for their health, education, and future development.

Kupradze also highlighted the plight of local families affected by school closures and derelict buildings in Nadzaladevi, where five schools remain unusable. He criticised the government for delays in reconstruction and for failing to provide safe learning environments.
