Deputy Secretary General of the opposition United National Movement, Irakli Pavlenishvili, on Tuesday said the United Kingdom continues to support what he described as the opposition’s struggle against the Government and Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili.

“Britain continues to support our struggle against the Ivanishvili regime,” Pavlenishvili said.

He added it is particularly important to continue efforts aimed at imposing sanctions against representatives of the authorities.

He argued that individual sanctions by the United Kingdom would be especially effective, claiming that they would directly affect the financial interests of Ivanishvili and his associates.

“Individual sanctions from Britain are the most effective against Ivanishvili and members of his group because they have financial interests that would be seriously impacted by British sanctions,” Pavlenishvili stated.
