Irakli Pavlenishvili, deputy secretary-general of the United National Movement (UNM), on Thursday claimed Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakidze had been in “international isolation” because of “echoing Kremlin narratives.”
The opposition leader further claimed Kobakhidze had been “rejected by everyone and regarded as one of the main faces of an authoritarian regime.”
The remarks came as the Prime Minister attended the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen, where he has been holding talks with European leaders on Georgia’s EU integration and economic potential.
Pavlenishvili argued that the summit only highlighted “how isolated Ivanishvili’s regime is,” referring to the ruling party’s founder, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili. He contrasted Kobakhidze with Moldovan President Maia Sandu, who he said enjoyed “close and constructive ties with Western leaders.”
According to the opposition figure, Kobakhidze’s international statements “consistently amplify Russia’s hybrid warfare and Kremlin messages on the global stage.”
