Ruling party MP dismisses allegations of his involvement in state tenders

Irakli Zarkua, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Government and a member of the parliamentary majority has responded to a recent report aired by TV Pirveli concerning his alleged involvement in tenders through a family connection.

“They claim I am lobbying for my brother-in-law and somehow participating in tenders to win contracts. I once again declare with full responsibility that none of my family members are involved in any state procurement or have participated in any tenders,” he stated.

Zarkua clarified the ownership of the company in question, Lagi Capital, stating that it was sold to brothers Aleko and Beso Berzenishvili, with the company now owned and led by Ia Ramishvili, who holds a 100% stake. The general director is either Davit Kvirikashvili or Kvirikadze, according to Zarkua. He called on the company representatives to come forward and clarify their position, stressing, “They have no connection to me, my family, or my brother-in-law. I expect them to state the truth.”

The majority MP also urged relevant authorities to investigate the company and the claims made in the TV Pirveli report, which alleged the company had won tenders but failed to meet its obligations.
“I ask the appropriate authorities to look into the matter so that the public can understand the reality once and for all,” Zarkua added.
He called on all agencies involved in tenders to verify whether the company has fulfilled its contractual obligations and ensure transparency.

“This will finally put an end to the disgraceful actions being carried out not only against me but also against our entire team,” Zarkua added, referring to TV Pirveli’s coverage.
