Georgia’s Embassy in Iran has urged Georgian citizens to refrain from traveling to Iranian territory due to the deteriorating security situation in the region.

In a public statement on Saturday, the embassy advised that, if necessary, citizens should contact its emergency hotlines at: +98 912 299 77 26; +995 599 98 01 89; +995 595 31 16 61; and +98 912 075 83 97.

The advisory followed an escalation after Israel carried out what it described as a preventive strike against Iran on the morning of February 28. It later emerged that the operation was conducted jointly by Israel and the United States.

According to Israeli media reports, the initial phase of the joint US-Israel military operation against Iran is expected to last four days.
