We can call it an irony of fate that there are people in Georgia who are still waiting for help and salvation from the North, they are still pinning their hopes on it, the Metropolitan of Poti and Khobi, Eminence Grigol, said during Sunday’s service, ahead of the 15th anniversary of the Russia-Georgia war marked on August 8 annually.

“15 years have passed since the war and we remember the barbaric aggression inflicted on our country by the northern neighbor, which had killed the defenders of the homeland and civilians. May God bless them, we pray, so that God may establish the righteous ones. Thanks to courage and God’s grace, we have endured and overcome hardships, but we can call it an irony of fate that there are people who are still waiting for help and salvation from the North,” he said.

The top cleric stressed such “unfounded” hopes and expectations would bring disappointment.
